FIREHAND

The first complete shot I made in Houdini is one I am quite proud of. With the added compositing effects I felt it was a strong and visually appealing shot.

I was inspired by the human torch from the 2005 fantastic 4 movies. Being my first shot and first time diving into pyro sims, it took a good amount of time and effort for me to grasp how it all works.

I learned about the PyroSpread node which allowed me to spread the temperature and burn attributes alongside an object from a desired location. These attributes are used to generate the flames. This can come handy in the future projects where I can spread different attributes alongside an object for more transformative effects, like a melting solid object for instance.
